Custom Made The Football Penalty Kick Goal Sensor

This project started with a simple AI-generated image of a football penalty kick challenge. The concept looked exciting on screen, but there was one big question…
“Can this actually be built?”
Most people only see the final attraction at the event.
What they don’t see is everything that happens behind the scenes.
For us, this was exactly the kind of challenge we love.
Engineering the Hardware
Instead of relying on a single sensor for each target, we designed every scoring hole with three independent sensors.
Why?
Because footballs rarely travel perfectly through the centre of a hole.
With multiple sensors working together, we significantly improved detection accuracy from different shooting angles, creating a more reliable experience for every participant.
Each target hole was designed between 25 cm and 40 cm in diameter, depending on the gameplay difficulty required.
Giving Event Organisers Full Control
We didn’t want this to be just another football game. We wanted event organisers to have complete flexibility to adapt the experience to different campaigns and competitions.
That’s why we developed an intuitive admin panel that allows organisers to assign different point values to each scoring hole, adjust the gameplay difficulty, configure the countdown timer, customize the scoring rules, and display live results on the electronic scoreboard.
With just a few settings, the same hardware can be transformed to suit different event objectives, making it a versatile solution for roadshows, sports activations, exhibitions, and corporate events.
The biggest challenge wasn’t developing the software or building the hardware—it was delivering a stable, event-ready solution within just 14 days.
From concept to completion, our team
designed and fabricated the hardware, engineered a multi-sensor detection system, developed the custom scoring software and electronic control system, integrated the countdown timer and LED scoreboard, then thoroughly calibrated and tested the entire setup.
In just 14 days, the concept became a fully operational product, successfully deployed for the client’s nationwide roadshow.
